About this tool & how to use it

What it does

Works out the grams and teaspoons of sugar in a drink from the label and how much you drank, with a weekly total if you give a count.

How to use it

  1. Enter the grams of sugar per serving and the servings in the container, from the label.
  2. Enter how much you drank: servings, the whole container or a share of it.
  3. Read the grams and teaspoons first, then the weekly total if you gave a count.

How it works

Sugar = grams per serving x servings drunk. 27 g a serving and 2.5 servings is 67.5 g.

Teaspoons = grams / 4, the common rounding the page states.

The 50 g added-sugars Daily Value (FDA, read 2026-10-04) is shown as a reference, not a limit set for you.

Formulas and details
  • Sugar = grams per serving x servings drunk.

Assumptions

  • The label values and the amount are yours.
  • The label may combine added and natural sugar.
  • The page does not judge the amount.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: You drank about 67.5 grams of sugar: about 16.9 teaspoons. That is 2.50 servings at 27 grams each.

Questions

What if I drank half the bottle?

Choose the share of the container and enter one half.

Does it include sugar substitutes?

No. It uses the grams of sugar on the label only.
