About this tool & how to use it

What it does

Shows how far your cart is from free shipping and whether spending exactly enough more costs more or less overall.

How to use it

  1. Enter your cart total.
  2. Enter the free-shipping threshold and the shipping charge now.
  3. Read how far you are and what spending more would cost overall.

Fill in the form and your answer will appear here.

Everything is calculated in your browser: the prices and numbers you enter are never sent anywhere or stored. We do not know any store's prices or tax rates, and these results are arithmetic, not advice to buy.

How it works

The gap is the threshold minus the cart: $70 - $62 = $8.

Now you pay $62 + $7 shipping = $69. Adding exactly $8 makes $70 with free shipping, which is $1 more overall.

Assumptions

  • Free shipping is only a saving if you wanted the extra item anyway.
  • The numbers are the ones you enter.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: You're $8.00 away from free shipping. Spending exactly that much more would cost you $1.00 more overall ($70.00 against $69.00).

Questions

Should I add something to get free shipping?

If the extra spending is more than the shipping you save, it costs you more. If you needed the item anyway, it can be worth it.

What if I am already over the threshold?

The page says so: shipping is already free.
