How it works
UPPERCASE and lowercase change every letter. Title Case capitalises each word except short articles, conjunctions and prepositions (three letters or fewer, such as a, the, and, of, to), which stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word or follow a colon.
Sentence case lowercases the text and capitalises the first letter of each sentence and the word "I".
In mixed-case text, all-caps words of two or more letters (NASA) and brand-style spellings such as iPhone keep the way you typed them. Text that is entirely upper or lower case has no spelling to keep.
camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE first split the text into words at spaces, punctuation and capital letters (XMLHttpRequest becomes XML, Http, Request), then join them. Each line is converted separately.
Assumptions
- Title Case follows an AP-style rule for small words; other style guides differ, so check names and headings that must follow a specific guide.
- English rules are used for Title Case and Sentence case.
- In the programmer cases, numbers count as their own word (version2 becomes version_2), and punctuation is removed.
Questions
Why did my acronym stay capitalised in Title Case?
In mixed-case text, words that are all capitals (like NASA) are kept. If your whole text is capitals, it is converted normally.
Does it change the text in my box?
