BMI Range Calculator

What weight is a BMI of 25 at my height?

Enter your height and a BMI range to see the weights that range corresponds to.

About this tool & how to use it

What it does

Shows which weights a BMI range works out to at your height. A mathematical conversion, not a recommended weight.

How to use it

  1. Choose your units and enter your height.
  2. Keep the starting range of 18.5 to 24.9 or enter another.
  3. Read the weights in pounds and kilograms.

You choose both. 18.5 and 24.9 are the edges of the CDC adult range labelled "healthy weight", used here as a starting point only.

How it works

Weight = BMI x height in meters squared. At 5 feet 8 inches (1.727 m), 18.5 is 55.2 kg and 24.9 is 74.3 kg.

The starting values are the CDC healthy-weight boundaries for adults (read 2026-10-04), shown as a plain range.

It is the BMI formula run backward.

Formulas and details
  • Weight (kg) = BMI x height (m)^2.

Assumptions

  • The weights are arithmetic. They are not recommended weights or goals.
  • BMI does not account for muscle, age, sex or build.
  • Adults only.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: At your height, a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 works out to 122 to 164 pounds. That is 55.2 to 74.3 kg, or 122 to 164 lb. It is a mathematical range, not a recommended weight.

Questions

Is this my ideal weight?

No. It converts a BMI range into weights at one height. It does not say what weight is right for you.

Can I enter another range?

Yes. Change the lower and upper BMI.
