Every tool does its work in your browser. What you enter is not sent to our servers. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Formulas and assumptions are shown
Each tool page explains how its answer is produced and lists the assumptions that affect it, such as the reading speed behind a reading-time estimate, how a tip is rounded, or which cron dialect is supported.
Money and rounding
Amounts of money are calculated in whole cents and rounded to the nearest cent, with halves rounding up, so results do not show floating-point leftovers. When a total is split between people, each person's share is rounded separately, and the page says so when that leaves a cent or two of difference.
How we test
Calculations and conversions are checked against answers worked out independently of our code, against published standards where they exist (for example the Base64 test vectors in RFC 4648 and the WCAG contrast thresholds), and against edge cases such as empty, zero, very large and invalid input. Tools that involve time zones are checked across daylight-saving changes.
Limits
Results are estimates based on the values you enter and the assumptions stated on each page. A tool can be wrong for input we did not anticipate. Some tools follow one convention where several exist (for example Title Case follows one common style rule, and cron uses the standard five-field format), and the page says which.
