Fill in the form and your answer will appear here.

Everything is calculated in your browser: the prices and numbers you enter are never sent anywhere or stored. We do not know any store's prices or tax rates, and these results are arithmetic, not advice to buy.

How it works

Percent change = (new price - old price) / old price. From $80 to $60 is -$20 / $80 = -25%, so you are saving 25%.

Percentages are measured from the starting price: a 25% drop needs about a 33% rise to get back.

Assumptions

  • The prices are the ones you enter.
  • One tool answers "what percent off is this?", "how much did it go up?" and "how much did it drop?".

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: The price went down $20.00, which is 25% off: you're saving 25%.

Questions

What percent off is $60 from $80?

25% off: $20 is a quarter of $80.

How do I work out a price increase percentage?

Subtract the old price from the new price, divide by the old price and multiply by 100.
