About this tool & how to use it

What it does

Paste a job offer or recruiter message to check it for known scam warning signs: fees, checks, gift cards, crypto, early ID requests and pressure. Then see what to verify.

How to use it

  1. Paste the text of the offer, posting or message.
  2. Read the headline, then each warning sign with the words it noticed.
  3. Go through "Things to verify" and "Safer next steps" before you reply, pay anything or share any details.

Nothing is sent or stored, and no link or email address in it is opened or looked up.

How it works

The text is checked against twelve well-known warning signs by fixed rules: asking you to pay, a check followed by buying equipment or sending money, gift cards, crypto or wire transfers, moving money or packages for the company, early requests for ID or bank details, chat-app-only interviews, hiring with no interview, pressure, easy money, unusual or free email domains and very high pay for no experience.

Each sign shows the words that matched, why it matters and how serious it usually is: serious, caution or minor.

Email addresses in the text are read, never opened or looked up.

Assumptions

  • Finding nothing does not mean an offer is real. Scammers change their wording, and a real-looking message can still be a scam.
  • Finding a sign does not prove a scam either: some real employers write casually or use chat apps. It is a reason to verify.
  • Your text stays in your browser and is not sent or stored.
  • It cannot see who sent the message or whether the company exists.

Questions

How can I tell if a job offer is a scam?

Warning signs include being asked to pay, a check you must deposit and spend, gift cards or crypto, requests for ID or bank details early, interviews only by text and pressure to act fast. Verify the company yourself.

What if I already sent money or details?

Contact your bank right away, and report it at reportfraud.ftc.gov if you are in the United States, or to your local authority.

Does a clean result mean the job is real?

No. It only means none of the listed signs appeared in the text you pasted.
