About this tool & how to use it

Compares paper towels or toilet paper by cost per sheet and per square foot from the numbers you enter.

  2. Enter product A's price, rolls and sheets per roll (and the sheet size if you know it).
  3. Enter product B the same way to compare.

Fill in the form and your answer will appear here.

Everything is calculated in your browser: the prices and numbers you enter are never sent anywhere or stored. We do not know any store's prices or tax rates, and these results are arithmetic, not advice to buy.

How it works

Cost per sheet = price / (rolls x sheets per roll): $19.99 / 600 sheets is 3.33 cents.

With the sheet size, area = sheets x width x length / 144 square feet, and cost per square foot = price / area.

Assumptions

  • "Mega", "giant" and "double" are not standard sizes, so only the numbers you enter count.
  • Absorbency, strength and ply are not compared.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: Product A costs less per sq ft: 7.93 cents against 8.26 cents, about 4% less.

Questions

Is a mega roll a better value?

Only the numbers tell you: compare the cost per sheet, or per square foot if the sheets differ in size.

Where do I find sheets per roll?

On the package.
