  2. Enter the number of items in the deal and the deal price.
  3. Read what the deal saves, the percent and the price per item.

Everything is calculated in your browser: the prices and numbers you enter are never sent anywhere or stored. We do not know any store's prices or tax rates, and these results are arithmetic, not advice to buy.

How it works

The single-price cost is the items times the single price: 3 x $1.99 = $5.97.

The saving is that minus the deal price: $5.97 - $5.00 = $0.97, which is 16.2% of the higher cost. Inside the deal each item costs $5.00 / 3 = $1.67.

Assumptions

  • This is the arithmetic of the deal only: whether you must buy the whole group to get the price is the retailer's rule.
  • A deal can cost more than buying singly: the page says so.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: 3 for $5.00 saves $0.97 compared with buying 3 at the single price: 166.7 cents each.

Questions

Do I have to buy all three to get the price?

That depends on the store. This page only compares the prices.

Is 2 for $5 a good deal?

Compare it with your single price: it is a saving only if two singles cost more than $5.
