Movement Break Timer

Can I get a timer for movement breaks?

Set the length of your session and how often you want a break, then press Start.

About this tool & how to use it

What it does

A session timer that tells you when a movement break starts and ends at the interval you choose. It runs in your browser and saves nothing.

How to use it

  1. Enter the length of the whole session, how often you want a break and how long a break lasts.
  2. Press Start. The page counts down and says when a break begins and ends.
  3. Use Pause, Resume or Reset at any time. Keep the page open: closing it stops the timer.

It is a timer: it counts and reminds. Keep this page open, because closing it stops the timer.

Ready

30:00

A 120-minute session with a 5-minute movement break every 30 minutes: 3 breaks.

How it works

The schedule alternates work and break parts and the breaks are inside the session: a 120-minute session with a 5-minute break after every 30 minutes of work is 7 parts (4 of work, 3 of break) and ends after 15 minutes of work.

The clock uses the browser timer, not a count of ticks, so a busy or background page stays on time.

An optional short sound plays when a break starts or ends. A screen reader is told when a part changes, not every second.

Assumptions

  • It is a timer. It counts and reminds, nothing more.
  • It makes no claim about what a break does for anyone.
  • Everything you type stays in this page. Nothing is sent or saved.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: A 120-minute session with a 5-minute movement break every 30 minutes: 3 breaks.

Questions

Will it work in another tab?

The time stays correct, but some browsers limit sound and updates in a hidden tab. Keep the page visible if you want the sound.

What should I do in a break?

Whatever suits you. The page does not prescribe an activity.
