Compare Two Grocery Carts

Which grocery cart is cheaper?

Enter your list as priced at two stores to see which is cheaper.

About this tool & how to use it

What it does

Compares the same list priced at two stores, line by line, and shows which cart is cheaper and which items make the difference.

How to use it

  1. Type the list at store A as "item, quantity, price".
  2. Type the list at store B in the same way.
  3. Read which cart is cheaper on the items in both and the biggest gaps.

Fill in the form and your answer will appear here.

Everything is calculated in your browser: the prices and numbers you enter are never sent anywhere or stored. We do not know any store's prices or tax rates, and these results are arithmetic, not advice to buy.

How it works

Items with the same name (ignoring capital letters and punctuation) are matched and compared at your quantities: milk 2 x $3.49 = $6.98 at A and 2 x $3.69 = $7.38 at B.

The matched items are added up for each store. Items in only one cart are listed and counted in that cart's own total.

Assumptions

  • Package sizes are not compared: enter the price for the same amount at both stores.
  • This does not say a store is cheaper in general, only for these lists. Both lists stay in your browser.

Example

Input: The starting values already in the form

Result: On the 3 items in both carts, Store A costs $0.44 less.

Questions

Only for your list. Enter the same items at both stores to see.

What if an item is in only one cart?
